Bandipora | April 7, 2025:
In a bold step towards building a drug-free future, the District Administration Bandipora, with the active involvement of the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF), has conducted a massive anti-drug awareness campaign across 100 schools of the district.

As part of the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) initiative against drug abuse, students were educated about the harmful effects of drug addiction, its long-term consequences, and the importance of adopting a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

A unique feature of the campaign was the 15-minute awareness speech delivered by nominated students during morning assemblies in each selected school. These speeches, guided by zonal presidents of JKTF, played a vital role in spreading the message peer-to-peer and sparking meaningful conversations among students.

Senior JKTF officials—including the Chief Spokesperson, District President, General Secretary, and Zonal Presidents—actively visited several schools to oversee the campaign and interact with students and faculty.

Addressing the gatherings, JKTF representatives emphasized that schools and teachers are on the frontlines in the fight against drug abuse. They encouraged students to be ambassadors of change within their communities and to stand united against the menace.

Teachers, too, participated wholeheartedly, using morning assembly time to convey the government’s commitment to curbing drug use and to instill a strong anti-drug ethos in young minds.

The campaign received overwhelming support from parents and the larger community. Many expressed their appreciation for the thoughtful and timely initiative, praising both the district administration and JKTF for prioritizing youth safety and mental health.

This campaign marks a powerful collaborative model between civil society and administration, setting a benchmark for community-led anti-drug initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
