GDA Advises Schools to Avoid Weekend Trips to Gulmarg Amid Heavy Tourist Rush
Gulmarg, April 12 (RNA):
In light of the increasing tourist influx to Gulmarg, especially on weekends, the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) has issued a public advisory urging all schools across the Kashmir Division to refrain from organizing excursions, educational tours, or picnics on Saturdays and Sundays.
The advisory, issued by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GDA, highlights that the hill station is witnessing unprecedented tourist footfall during weekends, resulting in massive traffic congestion and overcrowding. This situation has necessitated the restriction to ensure student safety and smooth movement of traffic.
“Schools planning visits to Gulmarg on weekdays must seek prior approval from the Head of the Department at least five working days in advance,” reads the advisory.
Institutions are also required to submit detailed itineraries to the CEO, GDA, via email, including:
-
Date of visit
-
Number of students and accompanying staff
-
Transporter details
-
Emergency contact numbers
These measures aim to enhance coordination with local administration and ensure safety in case of emergency situations during school outings.
