Jammu, May 8:
Minister for FCS&CA, Transport, and Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, today visited several relief camps and temporary shelters in Milan Di Khui, Kachrial, Thanger, Khour Camp, Khour Bazar, Nalriana, Nai Basti, and RD Resort, where families displaced due to cross-border firing have been relocated.

The visit aimed to take firsthand stock of the challenges faced by residents of Gigrial, Garar, Sainth, and other zero-line villages who have suffered displacement amid heightened border tensions.

Acknowledging their hardships, Minister Sharma commended the resilience and spirit of border residents, stating, “Their courage during such difficult times is deeply inspiring. The government stands united with them and remains committed to their safety and welfare.”

He directed the local administration to ensure smooth delivery of essential services—including food, healthcare, sanitation, and temporary housing—at all relief locations. He also stressed the need for a humane and responsive approach in supporting the displaced families.

Sharma reiterated that the Omar Abdullah-led government is actively working on long-term solutions such as bunker upgrades, restoration of essential services, and strengthening emergency communication networks for vulnerable border populations.

The visit reflects the administration’s dual commitment to immediate relief and the development of sustainable support mechanisms for border communities exposed to frequent cross-border hostilities.
