Baramulla, May 8 (RNA):
As a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing security situation, all Government and Private schools in the districts of Baramulla, Kupwara, Sub-Division Gurez, and schools located near Srinagar and Awantipora airportswill remain closed on May 9 and 10, 2025, according to an official order issued by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK).

The order, issued late evening, applies uniformly to educational institutions across these regions, citing safety concerns and the need to minimize civilian movement near sensitive installations. Authorities have termed the move as purely preventive and urged students, staff, and parents to cooperate.

Earlier this week, cross-border tensions and the recent targeted attack in Pahalgam had already led to heightened alertness across the Kashmir Valley.

The DSEK has advised schools to ensure that students are kept informed through official communication channels and has appealed to parents to avoid sending children to schools during this period.

RNA will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates.
