New Delhi | May 9, 2025:
In view of the prevailing national security situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially suspended the remainder of the TATA IPL 2025 for one week, with immediate effect. The decision was taken after a high-level consultation involving the IPL Governing Council, franchise representatives, broadcasters, and sponsors.
The BCCI acknowledged the sentiments expressed by the players, franchisees, and fans, stating that while it has full confidence in the nation’s armed forces, the decision was taken in the collective interest of all stakeholders.
“There is nothing greater than the Nation and its sovereignty,” said the BCCI in its official statement. “At this critical juncture, we stand in solidarity with the Government of India, our Armed Forces, and the people of the country.”
The Board also saluted the brave efforts of Indian forces currently engaged in Operation Sindoor, and expressed deep respect for their courage and commitment.
While the rescheduling and revised venues will be announced after further assessment, the BCCI thanked Jiostar, the official broadcaster, and TATA, the title sponsor, for their unwavering support and prioritizing national interest.
