Urgent Public Safety Notice: Presence of Unexploded Ordnance (UXOs) in Frontline Villages – Extreme Caution Advised

Baramulla, RNA 12/05/2025:

Baramulla Police has received information regarding the presence of 20 unexploded ordnances (UXOs) across 17 village locations in the district.

Out of these, 7 UXOs in 6 villagesKamalkote, Madhan, Gowhallan, Salamabad (Bijhama), Gangerhill, and Gawalta — have been safely disposed of.

Following this, the district administration has allowed evacuees from these 6 villages to return.

However, there may still be other UXOs in these villages that are yet to be reported or noticed by security forces.

These UXOs pose a serious threat to life and property. For everyone’s safety, please strictly follow these mandatory precautions:

  1. Do NOT under any circumstances approach, touch, tamper with, or attempt to move any suspicious object resembling an explosive shell or device.

  2. Immediately report any such object or suspicious item to Baramulla Police through the contact numbers listed below or notify the nearest security personnel.

  3. Stay away from areas where such objects are found or suspected. Unauthorized access to these areas is strictly prohibited.

Reminder: UXOs are highly unstable and dangerous. Mishandling can cause fatal accidents or severe injuries.
