• Bill Seeking Ban on Alcohol in J&K to be Introduced in Assembly
  • PDP MLA from Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, has submitted a Private Member’s Bill seeking a complete ban on liquor in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The bill, set to be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the J&K Assembly, proposes prohibition on the advertisement, sale, purchase, consumption, and manufacture of alcoholic beverages in the Union Territory.
  • Mir warned that the rising alcohol consumption poses a serious threat to society, stressing the need for strict legislation to curb the trend. The bill also proposes harsh penalties, including imprisonment and fines, for violations.

Jammu, May 12 – Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha offered heartfelt tributes to BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham, who laid down his life in the line of duty following unprovoked firing by Pakistan along the International Border in R.S. Pura, Jammu.

The braveheart was injured in the cross-border shelling on May 10, 2025, and succumbed to his injuries the next day, on May 11.

Sharing his condolences via social media, the Lieutenant Governor posted on X:

“I salute the brave son of Mother India, BSF’s Constable Deepak Chingakham, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. We share the grief of family and stand in solidarity.”

The sacrifice of Constable Deepak will always be remembered as a symbol of courage and unwavering patriotism.
