Srinagar,May 12, 2025:

In view of the prevailing situation along the Line of Control (LoC) over the past week, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has decided to conduct online classes for all undergraduate and postgraduate students from May 13 to June 6, 2025.

This decision follows the evacuation of both local and non-local students who were escorted back home due to rising tensions at the borders. Several faculty members also returned to their hometowns amid growing concerns over security and logistical challenges.

With signs of gradual normalcy returning, the NIT administration has chosen a phased approach to resume academic activities. According to an official notification issued by the Dean Academic Affairs—following a meeting with the Dean Students Welfare, Registrar, and the Director (in-charge)—the hostels will reopen on June 9, 2025, providing ample time for students to return and settle.

Physical (offline) classes are scheduled to resume from June 11, 2025, marking the full restoration of on-campus academic operations.

The administration emphasized that the continuation of academics in online mode is vital to prevent curriculum disruption, while ensuring the safety and convenience of students and staff during this sensitive period.

Students are urged to attend online classes regularly and prepare for a smooth transition to offline classes next month.
