PM Modi: Operation Sindoor Is the New Normal in India’s War on Terror
New Delhi, May 12 — In his first public address following the launch of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the counter-terror mission marked a turning point in India’s security doctrine. He hailed the operation as the new standard in India’s ongoing battle against terrorism and sent a strong message to Pakistan.
“Operation Sindoor Is Now Policy”
Speaking firmly, Modi asserted that India’s military action has only paused, not stopped. “We have only paused our retaliatory military action against Pakistan’s terror and military sites. In the coming days, Pakistan’s response will be tested,” he said, emphasizing continued vigilance by the Army, Navy, Air Force, and paramilitary forces.
He described Operation Sindoor as a natural progression from previous actions such as surgical strikes and air strikes, reinforcing it as official government policy in response to terror threats.
Praise for Armed Forces, Spy Agencies, and Scientists
Modi praised India’s armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists for their critical role in executing the mission. “Our brave soldiers have shown exceptional courage in achieving the goals of Operation Sindoor,” he said. The Prime Minister also condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian and one Nepali civilian, describing it as a moment of deep national pain.
“Cost of Wiping Sindoor Will Be Heavy”
In a powerful emotional message, Modi said, “I gave a free hand to the Armed Forces, and today, all terror organisations have understood the cost of wiping the sindoor from our wives and daughters.”
He revealed that on May 7, India launched precision strikes on nine terrorist training camps and command centers in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). “They never imagined India could act this decisively. But when a nation stands united, strong action becomes inevitable,” he said.
Calling Out Pakistan’s Role in Global Terror
Calling Pakistan a “global terror university,” Modi linked it to major international attacks, including 9/11, the London Tube Bombings, and decades of violence in India. “These terror sites were linked to all of them. That is why we decimated the headquarters of terror,” he said.
Modi added that while Pakistan targeted India’s borders, India’s drones and missiles responded by striking deep into Pakistan’s heartland.
Ceasefire Declared — But Vigilance Continues
His speech came shortly after the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations agreed to cease all military actions—land, air, and sea—starting 5 PM on May 10. The agreement followed the intense retaliation launched through Operation Sindoor in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the highest civilian death toll since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
International Message from Bihar Rally
Addressing a rally in Madhubani, Bihar, Modi reiterated his resolve to eliminate terrorism. “Ab aatankiyon ki bachi kuchi zameen ko bhi mitti mein milane ka samay aa gaya hai,” he declared, vowing to destroy all remnants of terrorist bases.
Switching to English, Modi addressed the international community:
“Today, from the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world: India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth. India’s spirit will never be broken by terrorism.”
He concluded by thanking global leaders and nations for their support, adding, “The punishment will be significant and stringent—beyond anything these terrorists could have imagined.”
