
CM Omar Abdullah Visits Tangdhar, Assures Rehabilitation, More Bunkers for Shelling-Hit Border Villages
Tangdhar (Kupwara), May 13 (RNA): In a determined show of solidarity with residents impacted by cross-border shelling, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Tangdhar and adjoining villages in the Karnah sector of Kupwara district on Monday. The visit aimed to personally assess the damage, listen to the grievances of affected families, and announce fresh measures for relief and protection.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Advisor to CM Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Trehgam Mir Saifullah, MLA Sogam Qaiser Jamshed Lone, MLA Karnah Javaid Mirchal, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan, SSP Ghulam Jeelani Wani, and other senior officials.
Villages Visited, Relief Promised
CM Omar Abdullah toured several vulnerable villages including Tangdhar, Hajinard, Nachiyan, Shamspora, Baghbela, Batpora, and Tarboni, taking stock of damage to homes and infrastructure caused by the latest round of shelling.
“The affected families have shown incredible strength in these trying times. The government is with them, and we will ensure every possible support to help them rebuild their lives with dignity,” the Chief Minister said while addressing the local residents.
He assured that the rehabilitation of affected families and their safety will remain a top priority, adding that prompt steps will be taken to address their concerns.
Health Facilities and Hydel Project Review
CM Abdullah also visited the Sub-District Hospital Tangdhar to evaluate healthcare services in the border zone. He interacted with medical staff and patients while inspecting departments such as OPD, IPD, Gynaecology, Operation Theatre, Ultrasonography, and X-Ray.
“Medical staff must serve with compassion, especially in remote and high-stress areas like these,” he directed the healthcare authorities.
Later, the Chief Minister inspected the Hydel Power Project at Gundi Shart, which had suffered delays due to heightened tensions. He assured its timely completion despite recent disruptions.
More Bunkers for Border Safety
Acknowledging the strategic importance of bunkers, CM Omar Abdullah emphasized the need for additional community and individual bunkers to protect civilians during escalations.
“These structures are lifelines during emergencies. We will expedite the construction of more bunkers and also take up the matter of individual bunker support with the Union Government,” he stated.
Committed to Long-Term Support
Reiterating his government’s commitment, the Chief Minister emphasized that no affected family will be left behind in the relief and rehabilitation process. His visit marks the latest in a series of outreach efforts aimed at ensuring safety, restoring hope, and rebuilding trust in conflict-prone border areas.
