SRINAGAR, MAY 16:
In a significant political development, the Srinagar District Congress Committee on Friday welcomed dozens of influential political and social activists from various localities into the Congress Party, calling it a strong affirmation of public faith in the pro-people agenda of the party.

The joining ceremony was held in the presence of Srinagar District Congress Committee President Irfan Naqib and JKPCC Media Coordinator Dr. Audil Farooq Mir (Lasjan), who warmly received the new members and expressed hope that their participation would reinforce the party’s outreach and strengthen grassroots connections.

Among those who joined the Congress were M. Arif Sheikh, Fayaz Ahmad Wani, Mohd Ramzan, Gh. Qadir Zargar, Pervez Ahmad Parray, Nazir Ahmad Dar, G.M. Sheikh, Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, Jan Mohd Najar, Altaf Hussain Mir, Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, Tariq Ahmad Sofi, Mudasir Ahmad Mir, Gh. Nabi Ganai, and others.

Welcoming the new entrants, Irfan Naqib congratulated them and encouraged them to actively engage in public service. He emphasized that the Congress Party has always stood by the aspirations of the people and continues to do so under the dynamic leadership of JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra. Naqib praised Karra as a leader with deep insight into India’s socio-political landscape, capable of guiding the party through any challenge.

Naqib also addressed certain disruptive elements reportedly active in parts of North Kashmir under the guise of visiting shelling-affected areas. Without naming anyone, he accused them of seeking cheap publicity and warned that such misadventures would not dent the Congress’s image. “Congress is an ocean, and such acts have no impact on our foundation,” he said. He also called for strict disciplinary action against those working against party principles for personal gain.

Dr. Audil Farooq Mir advised the new members to stay attuned to public issues and raise them with relevant authorities. He stressed organizing block-level meetings across Srinagar to boost grassroots activism and uplift party morale.

Youth leader Er. Danish Reshi, along with other party functionaries, also addressed the gathering and applauded the leadership qualities and political acumen of JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra.
