REASI, MAY 16:
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Nidhi Malik, chaired the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting today to evaluate the performance of the banking sector for the quarter ending March 2025.

During the review, the DDC assessed vital banking metrics, including the Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio, priority sector lending, and agricultural credit. She appreciated the notable progress made by various banks in key focus areas such as agricultural finance, lending to priority sectors, and support for economically weaker sections, recognizing their contribution to inclusive growth and the welfare of the community.

However, the DDC expressed concern over the low CD ratio of some banks and directed them to improve performance in the upcoming quarter. She stressed the importance of enhancing credit flow towards agriculture, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), renewable energy projects, and financially vulnerable groups.

Reviewing the implementation of government-sponsored schemes, DDC Malik instructed banks and line departments to ensure better coordination for timely and effective delivery of financial benefits to eligible beneficiaries. She also took stock of Aadhaar seeding in bank accounts and directed banks to fast-track the process, especially for pending beneficiaries.

Emphasizing the need for deep financial outreach, the DDC called for increased awareness drives and enhanced banking access in rural and aspirational blocks like Thakrakote, to bolster financial inclusion.

She also highlighted the need to scale up enrolment under social security schemes such as:

  • Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)

  • Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJY)

  • Atal Pension Yojana (APY)

In addition, the meeting reviewed the functioning of the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) and its current training initiatives aimed at skill development and livelihood generation.

DDC Malik urged all stakeholders to adopt a collaborative approach to improve banking performance and ensure that the benefits of financial schemes are accessible to every household, especially in underbanked areas.

The meeting was attended by CPO Reasi Narinder Kumar, Lead District Manager (LDM) SBI, Cluster Head J&K Bank, DSHO, CAHO, and other key district officials.
