• Bill Seeking Ban on Alcohol in J&K to be Introduced in Assembly
  • PDP MLA from Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, has submitted a Private Member’s Bill seeking a complete ban on liquor in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The bill, set to be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the J&K Assembly, proposes prohibition on the advertisement, sale, purchase, consumption, and manufacture of alcoholic beverages in the Union Territory.
  • Mir warned that the rising alcohol consumption poses a serious threat to society, stressing the need for strict legislation to curb the trend. The bill also proposes harsh penalties, including imprisonment and fines, for violations.

UDHAMPUR, MAY16: Sainik Cooperative Public High School (SCPHS), Chanas Tikri today celebrated Mother’s Day, marked by recognition, inspiration and the joyful spirit of community.

The event was graced by Commissioner Secretary, Cooperatives, Babila Rakwal along with Preeti Sharma, Joint Registrar Cooperative Special and Nishtha Nayyar, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Udhampur.

Speaking on the occasion, Babila Rakwal commended the school’s achievements, expressing her admiration for the talent of students, discipline, and school’s holistic approach to education. She emphasized the importance of nurturing both academic and emotional intelligence in today’s generation.

As part of the celebration, students showcased a series of beautiful and emotional dance performances dedicated to mothers, leaving audience deeply moved.

On the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary also awarded certificates among the students of Class 10th for securing more than 90% marks in their board exams. She also honoured the Pre-Primary section students of school with gold, silver and bronze medals for their success in olympiad competitions.
