
District Hospital Bandipora, in collaboration with Bandipora Volunteers, hosted a blood donation camp on World Blood Donor Day 2025, collecting over 50 units and promoting a culture of compassion, health awareness, and civic responsibility.

Bandipora, June 14: Marking the global observance of World Blood Donor Day 2025, District Hospital Bandiporaon Saturday organized a successful voluntary blood donation camp, in collaboration with Bandipora Volunteers. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from dozens of donors committed to supporting lifesaving health efforts.
The event was formally inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Bandipora, Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad, along with Medical Superintendent DH Bandipora, Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani. It brought together health professionals, civil society members, and youth volunteers to promote the theme of this year’s campaign: “20 Years of Celebrating Giving: Thank You, Blood Donors!”
Speaking on the occasion, CMO Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad emphasized the life-saving impact of voluntary blood donations.
“Blood donation is not just a noble act—it’s a crucial resource in emergency healthcare. We express deep gratitude to those who regularly donate to help save lives,” he stated.
Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani praised the collaborative efforts between the hospital and civil society.
“This event reflects the strength of community cooperation. The rising number of young donors is a very encouraging sign for the district’s healthcare resilience,” he said.
Over 50 units of blood were collected and will be stored in the hospital’s blood bank for future emergencies.
Representatives from Bandipora Volunteers, a local youth-led group, played a key role in mobilizing participants.
Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, a lead volunteer, shared his motivation:
“Donating blood is a powerful act of humanity. We’re grateful to all those who came forward today.”
First-time donor, Aamir Gani, expressed pride in participating:
“It felt great to do something that could save a life. I’ll definitely do this again.”
Informational pamphlets and brochures were distributed to educate attendees about the safety, benefits, and myths surrounding blood donation. Health officials highlighted the role of such camps in cultivating a culture of empathy, civic duty, and proactive healthcare.
The successful camp not only supported the cause of emergency preparedness but also stood as a tribute to the donors whose compassion sustains the healthcare ecosystem.
