Ahmad Ayaz, a noted social activist, has called on the government and elected representatives in Jammu and Kashmir to focus on governance and public service rather than using the absence of statehood as an excuse for inaction. He pointed out that these representatives were fully aware of their limitations while contesting elections in a Union Territory (UT), and therefore cannot use it as an excuse for their current inefficiency.
“Nearly four months have passed since the elected government took office, yet there is little clarity in governance. Instead of addressing public grievances, many representatives seem more focused on perks and protocols while blaming statehood for their inefficiency,” Ayaz remarked.
He emphasized that the people voted for them with trust, expecting solutions to pressing issues and real change. “These representatives knew the administrative framework before contesting elections. Now, they must fulfill their responsibilities instead of making excuses,” he added.
Ayaz stressed that public office is about service, accountability, and proactive leadership. “Blaming statehood only exposes a lack of commitment. As elected representatives, they have a duty to use every available platform to voice people’s concerns and push for solutions,” he said.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir need action, not empty promises. If elected representatives fail to perform, they risk losing public trust. It would mean BETRAYAL,” Ayaz concluded.
