Srinagar, May 12 – In a major relief to air travelers, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced that 32 airports, which were temporarily shut down due to the India-Pakistan military standoff, are now fully operational for civil aircraft movements with immediate effect.

In an official post on X (@AAI_Official), the AAI stated:

“In light of evolving circumstances and dynamic airspace conditions, commercial flight operations were temporarily suspended at 32 Airports until 05:29 hrs of May, 15th 2025. It is pleased to inform that these Airports are now fully operational for #CivilAircraft movements with immediate effect.”

The suspension, which affected key airports including Srinagar, Amritsar, Pathankot, and Udhampur, had been in place from May 9 to May 15, following heightened tensions and airspace restrictions amid the Indo-Pak conflict.

The AAI further advised passengers:

“Passengers scheduled to travel via these airports are advised to stay updated by checking #FlightStatus directly with their respective airlines and monitor official airline websites for the latest information.”

Earlier reports had confirmed the unfortunate death of a Medical Assistant in the Indian Air Force due to a Pakistani air strike in J&K’s Udhampur during the standoff, which intensified regional security concerns and triggered airspace closure for civilian flights.

The reopening is expected to restore normalcy in domestic air travel across northern and western India.
