3rd Batch Completes 1-Year Mali Training Course; 42 Trainees Receive Certificates from Director Horticulture Jammu

JAMMU, MAY 17, 2025:
The Department of Horticulture Jammu today hosted a valedictory-cum-certificate distribution ceremony to felicitate the 3rd batch of trainees who successfully completed the One-Year Orientation Programme/Mali Training Course 2024-25. The event took place at the Directorate of Horticulture Complex, Jammu.

Director Horticulture Jammu, C.L. Sharma, presided over the event as the chief guest and presented certificates to all 42 trainees, appreciating their commitment to horticulture and skill enhancement.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Sharma emphasized the importance of practical horticulture training, including the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for nursery management, techniques for training and pruning of mother plants, basin preparation, and efficient nursery operations in both open and protected environments. He also educated the trainees about key government schemes, especially the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), designed to boost farmers’ income by leveraging modern farming techniques and resources.

Joint Director Horticulture Jammu, Vikas Anand, encouraged the trainees to act as ambassadors of the department’s schemes by spreading awareness at the grassroots level. He urged them to reach out to every farmer in their regions with dedication and energy.

Earlier, Divisional Training Officer Virinder Kumar informed the gathering that 42 individuals were trained at the Divisional Training Institute located at Mega Fruit Plant Nursery, Chakroi R.S. Pura. The course covered essential modules of nursery operations and departmental schemes under the Horticulture Department.

The event was also attended by Deputy Director (Central) Mukesh Kumar Sharma, Nursery Registration Officer Satish Kumar, Assistant Director Sunil Gupta, District Horticulture Officer Abhinav Gupta, and DLSMS (Entomology) Zia-Ur-Rashid, along with other officials of the department.

This training initiative marks another milestone in enhancing horticulture-based employment and self-reliance in the Jammu region.
