96 Panchayats in Bandipora Declared TB-Free Under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme

Bandipora, April 30:
As part of the ongoing efforts under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), a total of 96 panchayats in Bandipora district have been officially recognized as TB-Mukt (Tuberculosis-Free).

To honor this achievement, the District Tuberculosis Control Society Bandipora organized an award ceremony on Wednesday at the Mini Secretariat Bandipora. The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad Qadri and saw the participation of officials including Chief Planning Officer Mohammad Maqbool, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rafi Ahmad, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Hafeezullah, MS DH Bandipora, BMOs, medical officers, paramedics, panchayat secretaries, and other stakeholders.

During the ceremony, District Tuberculosis Officer presented an overview of the district’s NTEP progress, informing that 96 out of 151 panchayats have earned TB-Free status. Among them, 25 panchayats received Silver status, while 71 were awarded Bronze status, based on their contributions and performance in TB elimination efforts.

Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Qadri applauded the tireless work of healthcare workers, panchayat officials, and frontline staff for their collective role in achieving this public health milestone. He stressed the importance of sustained vigilance and active community participation to completely eradicate tuberculosis from the district.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of appreciation certificates to health workers and panchayat representatives from TB-Free panchayats.
