Jammu, April 9, 2025:
Sh. Anand Jain, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, Jammu and Kashmir, chaired a comprehensive review meeting to finalize preparations for the Inter-Battalion and Inter-Zone Sports Meet – 2025, scheduled to be held in Jammu from April 21 to April 30, 2025.

The Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Inter-Battalion Sports Meet are slated for April 21 and April 25, respectively, while the Inter-Zone Sports Meet will commence on April 27 and conclude on April 30.

In his address, ADGP Anand Jain underscored the importance of these events, organized annually as part of the J&K Police Sports Calendar, to promote fitness and camaraderie within the force. He emphasized that the meets serve as a talent identification platform to select top performers for the J&K Police Central Sports Team, which represents the force at state and national-level competitions.

The sports meet will feature over 30 disciplines, including:

  • Team Games: Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Tug of War

  • Athletics: Shot-put, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, Long Jump, High Jump

  • Other Disciplines: Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Swimming, Archery, Fencing, Badminton, Table Tennis, Wushu, Taekwondo, Powerlifting, Bodybuilding, Pencak Silat, Shooting, and Arm Wrestling.

The competitions will be held in both men’s and women’s categories, across several zones: Armed, SDRF/HG, Training, and INTELSECT (which includes CID, Crime, Telecom, Traffic, Security, Railways, and SSG).

It is expected that 1,500 to 2,000 athletes, including Gazetted Officers participating in the dedicated GOs events, will compete across the sporting disciplines.

ADGP Jain stressed the significance of fostering a strong sports culture within the force to encourage discipline, fitness, and unity, while also nurturing emerging sports talent across all ranks.

Earlier, DySP Kuldeep Hondoo, in charge of Sports at APHQ, gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining the structure of various organizing committees and sub-committees tasked with ensuring the smooth conduct of the event.

The meeting saw the presence of several senior officers including:

  • Sh. Vivek Gupta (IGP Railways J&K)

  • Sh. Suliman Choudhary (IGP Traffic/Technical Services)

  • Ms. Sarah Rizvi (DIG IR Jammu)

  • Ms. Rashmi Wazir (DIG Security J&K)

  • Sh. Sandeep Wazir (AIG Personnel PHQ)

  • Sh. Rajesh Kumar Sharma (SSP Security Jammu)

  • Dr. Minakshi Kotwal (Medical Superintendent, Police Hospital Jammu)

  • Sh. Manoj Pandita (SSP, AIG Training/Communication PHQ)

  • Sh. Dalip Kumar (SO to ADGP Armed J&K)

Commanding Officers of city-based battalions in Jammu and Srinagar also participated through video conferencing, reflecting a unified and coordinated effort toward hosting a successful sports meet.
