• Bill Seeking Ban on Alcohol in J&K to be Introduced in Assembly
  • PDP MLA from Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, has submitted a Private Member’s Bill seeking a complete ban on liquor in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The bill, set to be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the J&K Assembly, proposes prohibition on the advertisement, sale, purchase, consumption, and manufacture of alcoholic beverages in the Union Territory.
  • Mir warned that the rising alcohol consumption poses a serious threat to society, stressing the need for strict legislation to curb the trend. The bill also proposes harsh penalties, including imprisonment and fines, for violations.

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 11: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will be conducting Disaster Management related Mock Exercise at Jammu Airport in Non Aviation Domain on 18 and 19 February, 2025 based on Earth quake scenario in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Disaster Management department¬ JKDMA and Airport Authority of India at Jammu Airport.

The main objective of the Mock Exercise is to highlight the key roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in various simulated hazard situations and institutionalize adoption of the Incident Response System (IRS) in the response mechanism and generating public awareness regarding the Disaster Management.

The Mock & TTEx’s are designed to appraise all key functionaries related to disaster management of the Jammu Airport of their roles and responsibilities on various simulated/other natural & man made hazards, discern areas for further improvement and set the stage for the conduct of the Mock Exercise.

This exercise is aimed to gauge the responses of various stake holders to a simulated hazard/emergency.

Further, there will be deliberation on various facets of Disaster Management to include preparedness, mitigation, evacuation, relief procedures etc to draw important lessons for further improvement.
