SRINAGAR, April 28:
Speaking during a special session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, AIP Senior Leader and Langate MLA Sheikh Khursheed strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of innocent civilians, demanding immediate justice for the victims and their families.

“These brutal killings are a direct assault on the peace and harmony that Jammu and Kashmir aspires to maintain,” Khursheed said, emphasizing the urgent need for accountability.

Extending his concerns beyond Pahalgam, Khursheed also demanded a thorough enquiry into the killings at Kandi (Kupwara) and Ajas (Bandipora), urging justice for the grieving families.
“The loss of innocent lives is a grim reminder of the instability and fear that continue to plague our society,” he noted.

In a passionate appeal, Khursheed reiterated the demand for the immediate restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
“The political and social unrest faced by our people will not subside until we reclaim the autonomy and dignity that were taken from us. Restoring statehood is crucial for securing our future,” he asserted.

The MLA also voiced serious concern over the practice of blasting houses as a form of collective punishment during counter-insurgency operations.
“Such acts inflict suffering on entire communities and further deepen societal wounds. Collective punishment must end, and alternative strategies must be adopted that respect the rights of innocent civilians,” he demanded.

Addressing another alarming issue, Khursheed condemned a recent incident at Lal Chowk where Islam was insulted by miscreants.
“Acts of communal hatred have no place in a civilized society. Those responsible must be brought to justice,” he said firmly.

Highlighting the challenges faced by Kashmiri students outside the region, Sheikh Khursheed expressed deep concern over increasing instances of violence, harassment, and discrimination.
“Our youth, who are the future of Jammu and Kashmir, must be allowed to pursue their education without fear. Immediate steps are needed to ensure their safety and dignity,” he urged.

Concluding his address, Sheikh Khursheed reaffirmed his commitment to represent the people of Langate and the broader aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir.
“We, as elected representatives, are duty-bound to protect the rights, dignity, and future of our citizens. I will continue to fight for justice, peace, and the rightful restoration of statehood,” he vowed.
