Bandipora District Launches Surprise Inspections to Curb Child Labour, Promotes Awareness Among Public.
Bandipora, June 17, 2025: In a determined effort to eradicate child labour, the District Administration Bandipora intensified its enforcement under the Pan India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign by conducting surprise inspections in the main market and surrounding areas. A joint team, comprising officials from the Labour Department, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Child Protection Unit, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Child Helpline, and local police, participated in the drive. The objective was twofold: identifying instances of child labour and educating shopkeepers and the general public about the provisions and penalties under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act. The administration reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on child labour and emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all children. Citizens were urged to report any violations through the 1098 Child Helpline, reaffirming the district’s commitment to child rights, legal enforcement, and ongoing public engagement.
