Chief Secretary Calls for Top Priority to Youth Fitness and Sporting Excellence in J&K.

rinagar, June 12: In a bid to energize youth engagement and elevate the sporting landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a comprehensive review meeting with officials from the Youth Services & Sports Department. Stressing the pivotal role of sports in shaping a healthy, drug-free, and disciplined society, he urged the department to bring every youth under the ambit of organized sporting activity. Dulloo praised the growing sports infrastructure across the UT and called for its optimal use through frequent mega events and community participation. He proposed water sports initiatives at Manasbal Lake and competitive activities at Ranjit Sagar Lake in Kathua to diversify J&K’s sporting avenues. The session also saw the release of the Annual Sports Calendar and publications showcasing infrastructure achievements and emerging talent. Commissioner Secretary Sarmad Hafeez and Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gul shared detailed insights, highlighting the department’s collaboration with national bodies and its mission to rank among the top sports ecosystems in India.
