CM Omar Abdullah Announces ₹10 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Families of Cross-Border Shelling Victims
Jammu, May 10, 2025:
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday announced an ex-gratia relief of ₹10 lakh for the families of all civilians who lost their lives in the recent cross-border shelling incidents.
The announcement comes amid growing concerns over civilian casualties and suffering in the border districts of Jammu and Rajouri due to continued hostilities.
“While no compensation can ever replace a loved one or heal the trauma caused to the family, as a gesture of support and solidarity, ex-gratia relief of ₹10 lakh will be provided to families of all the deceased,” CM Omar said.
Expressing profound grief over the loss of innocent lives, the Chief Minister emphasized that the Government is committed to minimizing public distress and taking every possible step for relief and rehabilitation.
“My Government is taking every possible measure to minimise the hardships of our people. We stand with every affected family in this hour of grief,” he stated.
The Chief Minister also directed concerned authorities to expedite the relief and rehabilitation process in affected areas. He reaffirmed that the administration remains vigilant, responsive, and proactive in ensuring the well-being and safety of citizens living in border areas.
