Jammu, May 10, 2025:
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today visited the grieving family of Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa (JKAS), the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri, who was martyred in cross-border shelling near his residence.

Expressing deep sorrow, CM Omar extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, hailing Thapa’s dedication and ultimate sacrifice.

“His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The Government stands firmly with his family in this hour of grief,” the Chief Minister said during the emotional visit.

Dr. Thapa, a highly respected officer in the J&K Administrative Services, was killed when Pakistani shelling struck Rajouri town. The officer had just recently participated in an online meeting chaired by the Chief Minister and was seen accompanying the Deputy Chief Minister the previous day.

“We have lost a dedicated officer of the J&K Administrative Services. His loss has left us shaken,” said Omar Abdullah. “May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister also visited the Rehari and Roopnagar areas of Jammu, both heavily affected by two consecutive nights of cross-border shelling.

“The pain and disruption faced by residents is deeply concerning. We stand with every affected family and will ensure all necessary support is provided without delay,” he assured.

CM Omar reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting civilians and providing relief amid escalating hostilities in border regions.
