CM Omar Abdullah Reaffirms People-First Governance During Srinagar Outreach Programme

Srinagar, May 17, 2025:
Reiterating his government’s commitment to responsive and inclusive governance, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today emphasized that public service is not just an administrative task but a moral duty. The remarks were made during a day-long public outreach programme held for the second consecutive day at the Raabita Office, Srinagar.

“We are duty-bound to address the genuine issues of our people with empathy, urgency, and dedication,” said the Chief Minister, adding that governance is rooted in listening, engaging, and resolving grievances.

The Chief Minister personally met numerous delegations and individuals, who raised critical civic, economic, and administrative concerns from across Jammu and Kashmir.

Key Delegations and Issues Raised:

  • Government Housing Colony, Ompora (Budgam): Civic issues under the jurisdiction of the Housing Board.

  • Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation (both factions): Challenges facing the business community across the Valley.

  • J&K Private Empanelled Hospitals & Dialysis Centers Association: Need for policy support and better infrastructure in the private healthcare sector.

  • All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation: Long-standing demands of ration shop owners, including timely government support.

  • Industrial Growth Centre, Lassipora (Pulwama): Infrastructure development and policy push for industrial growth.

  • Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Delegation: Grievances regarding service conditions of employees.

  • All J&K Panchayat Secretaries Association: Issues related to service regularization and career progression.

  • Residents from Nishat (Srinagar): Local concerns including land disputes and civic infrastructure needs.

Additionally, several individuals met the CM to seek redressal for personal and community-level concerns.

Government Assurance:

The Chief Minister assured all delegations that their issues would be taken up on priority. He highlighted that the government will maintain a people-first approach focused on timely redressal, administrative efficiency, and inclusive growth.

“Voices from every corner of J&K will be heard, respected, and acted upon with sincerity and resolve,” he said.
