Div Com Kashmir Reviews Arrangements for Peaceful Observance of Muharram-ul-Haram
SRINAGAR, JUNE 12:
In preparation for the upcoming observance of Muharram-ul-Haram, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, today chaired a comprehensive meeting aimed at ensuring smooth and peaceful conduct of religious events across the Valley.
The meeting witnessed participation from DIG Police Rajiv Pandey, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, officials from line departments, and representatives from various Shia associations.
During the session, the Div Com directed immediate macadamization and repair of roads in Shia-majority localities to ensure hassle-free passage for mourning processions. He stressed the importance of maintaining pothole-free routes for the safety and convenience of participants.
Further, departments such as PHE and KPDCL were instructed to guarantee uninterrupted water and electricity supply throughout the mourning period. Supplementary water tankers are also to be deployed in areas experiencing high demand.
In terms of essentials, Bidhuri ordered adequate distribution of ration and firewood to the community. He also called for intensified sanitation efforts around Imam Baras and procession routes to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
The Health Department was directed to station medical teams and ambulances at key locations to provide immediate assistance to mourners if needed.
On the security front, the Div Com emphasized the formulation of a robust route and traffic management plan alongside fool-proof security measures to maintain law and order during processions.
Concluding the meeting, Bidhuri urged all departments to finalize their preparations in advance to ensure that religious gatherings are conducted in a smooth and respectful manner.
