Div Com Kashmir Reviews Mela Kheer Bhawani Arrangements, Stresses Enhanced Pilgrim Facilities

Srinagar, May 14 (RNA):
To ensure a seamless and spiritually fulfilling experience for devotees during the upcoming Mela Mata Kheer Bhawani, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, chaired a high-level meeting with key departmental heads and district officials to finalize the arrangements for the annual festival.

The review meeting focused on ensuring better-than-last-year facilities at the main shrine in Tulmulla, Ganderbal, as well as at other important pilgrimage sites in Kupwara, Kulgam, and Anantnag.

Focus on Infrastructure and Devotee Services

The Div Com directed all departments to ensure robust arrangements for:

  • Transportation and special services for migrant employees

  • Accommodation and sanitation facilities

  • Drinking water supply and uninterrupted electricity

  • Langar services and food distribution

  • Toilet facilities and medical care

He emphasized early desilting of the canal at Tulmulla, beautification of temple surroundings, repair of approach roads, and restoration of non-functional streetlights to improve the overall aesthetics and accessibility of the shrine.

Emergency Readiness and Coordination

To strengthen security and emergency preparedness, deployment of SDRF teams, fire tenders, and medical teams was mandated. The Health Department was instructed to station skilled personnel and ambulances near all shrine locations. The FCS&CA Department was also directed to ensure continuous supply of essentials, including LPG.

Coordination with Community Stakeholders

Deputy Commissioners from Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kupwara, and Kulgam presented updates on the progress of preparations. Additionally, representatives from Kashmiri Pandit organizations participated and shared their inputs for a safe, smooth, and spiritually enriching Mela.

The Div Com asked each department to nominate nodal officers to ensure real-time coordination during the event.

The meeting was attended by top officials from departments of Tourism, Relief and Rehabilitation, Police, Traffic, PWD, KPDCL, PHE, SRTC, SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, Information, and community organizations.
