ECI Engages Political Parties to Strengthen Democratic Process
SRINAGAR, May 6:
In a significant step toward enhancing democratic engagement, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated structured interactions with national and state-level political parties. This initiative reflects the Commission’s continued focus on inclusive electoral governance and stakeholder participation.
According to officials, the move aims to facilitate direct communication, allowing party presidents and senior representatives to share their concerns, feedback, and suggestions with the Commission. These dialogues are expected to foster constructive discussion and strengthen the electoral framework within the existing legal boundaries.
The Commission emphasized that the initiative is part of its broader strategy to build a transparent, participatory, and accountable electoral process. It underlines the importance of collaboration between electoral authorities and political entities in ensuring free and fair elections.
As part of ongoing efforts, the Commission reported the successful conduct of 4,719 all-party meetings to date. This includes 40 meetings held by Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), 800 by District Electoral Officers (DEOs), and 3,879 by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), engaging more than 28,000 representatives from various political parties.
The ECI reiterated its commitment to maintaining open channels of dialogue and ensuring that democratic processes are continually refined through cooperative engagement.
