FCIK Constitutes 9-Member Election Commission to Conduct Timely Elections

The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) has formally constituted a nine-member Election Commission headed by Majid Aslam Wafai to conduct fresh elections of the organization within a stipulated timeframe of two months, in accordance with the provisions laid out in the FCIK Constitution.
The decision was taken during the 1st meeting of the Advisory Committee, chaired by FCIK President Mr. Shahid Kamili. In a unanimous resolution, the committee approved the appointment of Majid Aslam Wafai as the head of the newly constituted Election Commission. The other appointed members include Javid Ahmad Bhat, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Zain-ul-Abideen,
Mohammed Ayub, Abdul Raheem Sofi, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, Abdul Wahid Chishti, and Mehraj-ud-Din.
The Election Commission has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting a free, fair, and transparent election process within a two-month period.
Members of the Advisory Committee extended their heartfelt appreciation to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, and his Advisor, Nasir Aslam Wani, for their timely intervention and directions to the Director of Industries and Commerce Kashmir for an oversight in order to ensure that the election process remains impartial and transparent.
Earlier in the meeting, the Advisory Committee ratified the minutes of the Extraordinary General Body Meeting held on May 4, 2025. The committee also deliberated on strategic plans and critical issues that need urgent redressal through governmental and administrative channels. Among the prominent issues discussed were the implementation of a new procurement policy, the introduction of a non-discretionary and non-discriminatory One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme, extension of power amnesty, and provision of relief for wood- based industrial units.

To strengthen the operational functioning of the organisation, the Advisory Committee members pledged full support and cooperation to the President, during the interim period, in managing the day-to-day affairs of the FCIK. Additionally, industrial members from various regions facing localised challenges or individual problems have been advised to approach their respective estate or district presidents for immediate assistance and grievance redressal.
The meeting held at Industrial Estate Zainakote was participated by Farooq Ahmad Anshari, Iftikhar Hussain Misgar, Syed Fazal Illahi, Mohammad Ashraf Khan, Javid Ahmad Bhat, Shiekh Nisar Ahmad, Ghulam Nabi Shah, Nazir Ahmad Mir, Abdul Raheem Sofi, Mohammed Muzaffar, Ghulam Mohammed Tramboo, Parvez Ahmad Naiku, Mohammed Imran Najar, Dr. Nazir Ahmad, Farooq Ahmad Wani, Ajaz Ahmad, Mehraj ud Din, Mohsin Iqbal, Aweem Irshad and Firdous Ahmad. Afaq Qadiri, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah and Imran Murtaza joined the meeting virtually.
