Srinagar, May 14 (RNA):
In a significant administrative development, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed 122 Junior Assistants across the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDD&PR) department, addressing a longstanding clerical staff shortage that has affected field operations since 2021.
The recruitment, conducted through the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), marks a major stride toward strengthening grassroots governance and enhancing service delivery in rural areas.
Structured Distribution of Appointments:
-
UT Level: 1 Post
-
Divisional Cadres: 2 Posts each for Jammu & Kashmir Divisions

-
Kashmir Division – 62 Posts

The Secretary RDD&PR, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, hailed the move as a vital human resource boost for the department. “This recruitment will ease the burden on overworked offices, speed up public service delivery, and support the implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level,” he stated.
Aijaz Asad emphasized that the Junior Assistants will help:
-
Expedite file movement and administrative processing
-
Improve grievance redressal systems
-
Support BDO offices facing staff crunch
-
Strengthen rural governance infrastructure
Out of the 122 selected posts, 120 have been cleared for immediate appointment, while 2 have been withheld pending further verification. The selected candidates must submit their Personal Verification Roll (PVR) within 21 days to complete their appointment process.
Background:
This comes after last year’s recruitment of 1,395 Panchayat Secretaries, and a previous appointment of 1,889 Panchayat Accounts Assistants, reinforcing the government’s continued focus on rural capacity-building and governance.
The newly appointed Junior Assistants are expected to play a key role in transforming public service delivery across district and block-level offices throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
