Handwara, April 12:
Continuing its firm stance against habitual offenders and repeat criminals threatening public peace and order, Police in Handwara has detained Ali Mohammad Sheikh, alias Ali Dhaii, son of Ab. Gani Sheikh, resident of Dhaii Neelipora, under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

Ali Dhaii, aged 49 years, has been a chronic and habitual criminal, with a criminal record spanning over a decade. Since 2011, he has been involved in multiple criminal cases related to theft, burglary, cheating, extortion, intimidation, and other offences, raising serious concerns about public safety and law enforcement.

A total of 10 FIRs have been registered against him at Police Station Handwara, under various sections of RPC, IPC, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including serious charges under Sections 457, 380, 341, 392, 427, 506, 148, 147, 354, and 318(4). Despite repeated arrests and legal proceedings, the accused has shown no regard for the law, securing bail time and again, only to resume illegal activities.

The accused has now been declared a threat to public peace, posing a constant nuisance and danger to the local population. All legal formalities have been completed, and he has been booked under the PSA to prevent further disruptions to law and order.

Police remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the public and will continue its efforts to bring habitual offenders to justice.
