Houses Damaged in Paranpilla and Lagama Villages of Uri Due to Cross-Border Shelling
RNA KASHMIR | Uri | May 10:
Multiple residential houses sustained damage in Paranpilla and Lagama villages of Sub Division Uri following unprovoked cross-border shelling by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC), local sources confirmed on Friday night.
The sudden shelling triggered panic among the residents, forcing several families to take shelter in safer locations. According to locals, the shelling began without warning and continued for several hours, damaging property and spreading fear across the border communities.
Officials from the district administration, along with teams from the revenue and police departments, visited the affected areas to assess the damage. No civilian casualties were reported as of the time of filing this report, though several families have been left in distress due to property loss and psychological trauma.
Locals have demanded immediate action from the government for compensation, relief, and long-term safety measures in these vulnerable border villages.
- The ongoing ceasefire violations have brought back painful memories of earlier years of unrest in Uri, which has remained one of the most sensitive regions along the LoC.
