New Delhi – May 8, 2025 – Following Pakistan’s attempt to escalate tensions by targeting multiple military sites in Northern and Western India on the night of May 7-8, 2025, India has responded with a “proportionate” measure, according to a press briefing on “Operation Sindoor” by the Ministry of Defence.

Pakistan’s attacks, which involved drones and missiles aimed at locations including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Chandigarh, were successfully neutralized by India’s integrated air defense systems. Debris from these attacks is reportedly being recovered, confirming Pakistan’s aggression.

In response, the Indian Armed Forces targeted air defense radars and systems within Pakistan this morning. It has been reliably learned that an air defense system in Lahore was neutralized. India stated that its response was in the same domain and of the same intensity as Pakistan’s actions.

Furthermore, Pakistan has intensified unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) using mortars and heavy artillery in areas such as Kupwara and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the tragic loss of sixteen innocent lives, including three women and five children. India was compelled to respond to halt this firing.

The Indian Armed Forces reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided that Pakistan also respects this commitment.
