New Delhi, May 12 (RNA) – Senior Congress leader Shri Jairam Ramesh has sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “delayed and evasive” address to the nation following the recent cross-border developments, claiming it was overshadowed by US President Donald Trump’s remarks about brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

In a statement released shortly after the PM’s speech, Ramesh said the Prime Minister “chose complete silence” on President Trump’s revelations, which included claims of US mediation and leveraging trade ties to de-escalate nuclear tensions between the two countries.

“Has India Agreed to US Mediation?” Asks Ramesh

“Has India agreed to US mediation? Has India agreed to a ‘neutral site’ for dialogue with Pakistan? Will India now give in to US demands for opening up Indian markets in automobiles, agriculture, and other sectors?” questioned the Congress leader, urging the government to clarify its diplomatic stance.

Call for Political Consensus

Ramesh also criticized the Prime Minister for avoiding consultations with opposition leaders, saying, “The PM should immediately convene a meeting with leaders of all political parties — something he has studiously avoided in the last twenty days.”

He stressed that the road ahead requires painstaking diplomacy and collective national resolve, adding, “One-liners and dialogue-baazi are poor substitutes.”

Support for Armed Forces

While voicing serious concern over the government’s communication strategy, Ramesh extended unwavering support to India’s armed forces, saying, “We applaud and salute our armed forces unreservedly. They have done the country proud. We are 100% with them at all times.”

Despite this endorsement of the military’s efforts, Ramesh emphasized that Prime Minister Modi still has serious questions to answer on transparency, diplomacy, and national policy.
