
JE Among Two Injured in Transformer Blast at Budgam Receiving Station, Shifted to SMHS Srinagar.
Budgam, June 13: Two employees sustained serious injuries following a transformer explosion at the Receiving Station Budgam on Friday. The injured have been identified as Junior Engineer (JE) Hitesh and Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Ismail Dar and a resident of Khanpora, Budgam, who was serving as the in-charge of the station.
According to officials, the blast occurred during routine maintenance operations at the facility. Both employees suffered critical injuries and were initially rushed to District Hospital Budgam for emergency care. Given the extent of their injuries, they were later referred to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment.
Authorities from the Power Development Department (PDD) are expected to initiate an internal inquiry to investigate the cause of the incident and assess whether any safety lapses contributed to the blast.
