
J&K Assembly’s Committee on Privileges Holds First Meeting, Vows Collaborative Action.
SRINAGAR, JUNE 12: The newly formed Committee on Privileges of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly held its inaugural meeting at the Assembly complex in Srinagar. Chaired by Nizam-u-din Bhat, the meeting witnessed active participation from Committee members including MLAs Riyaz Ahmad Khan, Salman Sagar, Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed (Pardesi), Javaid Iqbal, Vikram Randhawa, and Bharat Bhushan. The Chairman outlined the Committee’s mandate and responsibilities, expressing confidence in the members’ ability to work cohesively and contribute meaningfully. The members engaged in constructive discussions, offering suggestions on key issues. The Chairman stressed that the Committee would operate strictly within its defined scope, holding regular meetings to address and resolve matters of privilege. He called upon members to uphold the dignity of the Assembly and approach their duties with integrity. Notably, the Committee was announced by J&K Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather during the latest session and will remain in place until March 31, 2026.
