JK Govt Approves Key Promotions in Jal Shakti Department to Fill Top-Level Vacancies

In a strategic administrative move, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved key appointments in the Jal Shakti Department, addressing critical shortages at the top leadership level.

As per official orders, Mohammad Taj Chowdhary, presently In-charge Superintending Engineer, has been promoted and appointed as Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Kashmir, while Tirath Ram, also I/c Superintending Engineer, has been appointed as Chief Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Kashmir, both on an incharge basis.

These appointments come in response to urgent departmental requirements amid rising vacancies in senior posts, which had been affecting administrative and project execution efficiency. The Establishment-cum-Selection Committeehad reviewed and recommended these elevations, highlighting the importance of experienced leadership during ongoing infrastructure challenges.

In a parallel development, Jal Shakti Minister Javed Ahmed Rana has approved the promotion of five Executive Engineers to Superintending Engineers, effectively filling all vacant SE-level posts in the department.

Officials believe these moves will significantly boost the implementation of critical water supply and irrigation projects across the Union Territory. Minister Rana has also emphasized the need for performance monitoring and regular evaluation of top-level engineers to ensure better execution and accountability.
