• Bill Seeking Ban on Alcohol in J&K to be Introduced in Assembly
  • PDP MLA from Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, has submitted a Private Member’s Bill seeking a complete ban on liquor in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The bill, set to be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the J&K Assembly, proposes prohibition on the advertisement, sale, purchase, consumption, and manufacture of alcoholic beverages in the Union Territory.
  • Mir warned that the rising alcohol consumption poses a serious threat to society, stressing the need for strict legislation to curb the trend. The bill also proposes harsh penalties, including imprisonment and fines, for violations.

Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF), under the leadership of Chairman Mr Abdul Qayoom Wani, expresses deep sorrow over the demise of the eminent spiritual personality Saeed Hussam-ul-Haq Rufayi (RA) of Wanigam Tangmarg.

In his condolence message, Mr Abdul Qayoom Wani described Rufayi Sahib as a beacon of spirituality and a torchbearer of the revered Rufayi Sufi order, whose presence brought guidance, solace, and deep spiritual insight to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. His pious life, dedicated to divine remembrance, social harmony, and spiritual mentoring, leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

Mr Wani further noted that Rufayi Sahib rendered valuable services as an educator in the Education Department, where he guided generations of students with knowledge, sincerity, and moral strength. His contributions to the field of education were marked by dedication and a genuine concern for the intellectual and ethical development of young minds.

He also highlighted that apart from his spiritual stature, Rufayi Sahib belonged to a noble family with a strong commitment to public service. His sons, Dr. Moin-ul-Haq, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu, and Saeed Jawad-ul-Haq, former Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), carry forward his legacy of service and humility.

The JKCSF prays for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family and followers to bear this irreparable loss. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
