
JMC Holds Marathon Review Meeting to Assess Civic Infrastructure; MLAs Call for Inclusive Planning
JAMMU, MAY 17, 2025:
In a major step towards strengthening urban governance, a marathon review meeting was convened today under the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to assess civic infrastructure and development initiatives. The meeting saw active participation from several Members of the Legislative Assembly including Sham Lal Sharma, Vikram Randhawa, Dr. Ravinder Singh, Yudhvir Sethi, Surinder Kumar, and Arvind Gupta, along with JMC Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav.
MLAs Advocate Participatory Planning
During the deliberations, the legislators unanimously emphasized the need to involve local MLAs during the formulation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). They asserted that such participatory planning enhances the relevance, responsiveness, and approval speed of civic projects.
“MLAs possess grassroots-level insights into the specific needs, challenges, and priorities of their constituencies. Including them in planning ensures the projects reflect real issues on the ground,” the legislators stated.

The MLAs highlighted a range of urgent developmental needs including:

Acceleration of ongoing works under Jammu Smart City Limited

Starting e-bus services on underserved routes like Sainik Colony via Greater Kailash

Implementation of decorative poles, benches at park jhullas, and CTPT toilets

Allocation of development funds based on ward population and area
JMC Commissioner Responds
Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner, JMC, acknowledged the inputs and reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to inclusive, transparent, and citizen-driven governance. He assured the MLAs that their recommendations will be addressed with urgency and coordination.
“JMC stands committed to ensuring that our urban development efforts are aligned with the real needs of our communities. We value the support and insights of elected representatives,” he stated.
