Karra, Bhalla, Ravinder on Three-Day Tour of Poonch-Rajouri to Meet Pakistan Shelling Victims

Rajouri, May 12:

JKPCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra, Working President Raman Bhalla, and Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma embarked on a three-day tour of the twin border districts Poonch and Rajouri to meet the victims of recent Pakistan shelling.

Shri Karra, accompanied by AICC Secretary Ch Shah Nawaz, IYC Secretary Ch Aiyaz, Iqbal Mir (Ex-Chairman BDC) and other senior Congress leaders, visited the shelling-affected areas in Surankote and interacted with the local population to assess the on-ground situation.

Simultaneously, Shri Bhalla and Shri Ravinder Sharma, along with a team of Congress leaders including Adv Bhavishya Sudan, JKPCC Spokesperson Rajiv Saraf, PCC Kisan Cell Chairman Bharat Priye, AYC President New Ravinder Chouhan, Vijay Bakshi, Sat Pal Sharma, NC Sharma, S. Ajit Singh, Chander Bakshi, Daleep Heer, Mangat Ram, Sanjay Sharma, and Sub Kashmir Singh, visited the border migrants’ camps at Bajabain, Tanda Kangri, Lamberi, and Dandesar.

During their interaction, residents raised concerns regarding the shortage of bunkers in Dabora, Meenka, Kalai (Beripattan Tehsil), Lam, Laroka, and Kampla of Qila Darhal (Nowshera area). Locals demanded immediate construction of more individual and community bunkers for safety against frequent shelling incidents.

Despite the challenging situation, the morale of the border residents remained high, and they expressed full support to the armed forces and the Government in any action against terrorism and Pakistan.

The people also demanded arms licenses for ex-servicemen, self-defense provisions, and speedy compensation for the loss of lives, property, crops, livestock, and homes.

Shri Bhalla and Shri Ravinder Sharma also visited injured families in Rajal and Nowshera town, where they assessed damages to houses and emphasized the need for immediate individual loss assessments.

They demanded a special central package from the Prime Minister for the relief and rehabilitation of the affected people. They also called for a special recruitment package for border youth in paramilitary forces, alongside the expedited construction of more bunkers.
