
Kishtwar Administration Reviews Skill Development Program Under Power Projects’ R&R Plan
KISHTWAR, MAY 10:
In a significant move towards empowering the local population, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, chaired a high-level meeting today to strategize the implementation of a Skill Development Program under the Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) Plan of four major hydroelectric power projects—Kiru, Kwar, Pakal Dul, and Rattle—in District Kishtwar.
The meeting involved an extensive review of the guidelines and action points issued by the Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction (DMRRR) Department, aimed at formulating a detailed roadmap for the program’s rollout.
The DC emphasized the importance of replicating successful models and directed the General Manager, NHPC, to study and implement the best practices used in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam by NHPC. He stressed the need for timely and efficient execution of the skill training modules to ensure local youth are adequately prepared for job opportunities linked to the power projects.
“Skill development is key to ensuring that our local youth benefit from the power projects coming up in Kishtwar. We must adopt and adapt models that have proven successful elsewhere,” DC Shavan said.
The meeting was attended by PO ICDS Rishi Kumar Sharma, CPO Shahnawaz Bali, AD FCS&CA Shafqat Ali Keen, AD Handicraft Pardeep Shan, CMO Dr. Rajinder Kumar, Dy. CEO Kishtwar, along with project representatives and officials from various departments.
