
Legislative Committee Reviews Functioning of J&K Public Undertakings, Calls for Reforms.
SRINAGAR, JUNE 17:
The Committee on Public Undertakings of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, chaired by Ali Mohammad Sagar, convened an introductory-cum-review meeting at the Assembly Complex in Srinagar to examine the functioning and efficiency of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) across the region. The meeting was attended by key committee members including Ali Mohammad Dar, Baldev Raj Sharma, Mir Mohammad Fayaz, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Showkat Hussain Ganai, Said U Din Bhat, and Tanvir Sadiq.
The Chairman emphasized the need for proactive member involvement, stressing that timely audits, evaluations, and transparent reporting are essential for reviving loss-making corporations. He directed departments to submit the latest status reports and audit findings to assist with strategic planning and reforms.
The session also featured a detailed briefing from Principal Accountant General JPN Singh, who outlined the audit mechanisms and proposed performance-enhancing recommendations. The Committee underlined the value of corporation-wise review meetings and encouraged members to work in unison toward boosting economic contributions, job creation, and fiscal responsibility within the PSU sector.
Also present were key officials including Manoj Pandita, Secretary Legislative Assembly, and Directors General from Accounts, Treasuries, and Expenditure Finance, reflecting a coordinated approach to sectoral improvement.
