LG Attends High-Level Security Meeting Chaired by Home Minister, Reviews Security Measures Across J&K
SRINAGAR, May 7:
Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today participated in a high-level security meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah via virtual mode. The review meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo, DGP J&K Shri Nalin Prabhat, Special Director Intelligence Bureau (IB) Shri Mahesh Dixit, Principal Secretary Home Department Shri Chandraker Bharti, and Joint Director IB Shri Pankaj Thakur from the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar.
The discussion focused on reviewing the prevailing security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir and outlining necessary measures to neutralize any potential threats, especially in border villages and other sensitive areas. The Lieutenant Governor assured that all directives issued by the Union Home Minister would be implemented in letter and spirit and emphasized the government’s strong stance on maintaining peace and ensuring public safety.
The meeting was held just hours after “Operation Sindoor,” a precision military strike by India’s tri-services targeting nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Praising the armed forces for their decisive action, LG Manoj Sinha stated that “Operation Sindoor is a remarkable demonstration of the unwavering resolve of our security forces, who have avenged the Pahalgam terror attack.” He further stressed that the operation sends a strong message across the border that terrorists, regardless of where they hide, will be held accountable for their crimes.
The Lieutenant Governor added that terrorist training camps of groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed—responsible for decades of violence and bloodshed—have been completely dismantled by the targeted strikes.
Reaffirming the government’s dedication to citizens’ safety, LG Sinha led a separate review earlier in the day with senior administrative, police, and district officials, including Deputy Commissioners of border districts. He directed officials to expedite the relocation of residents from vulnerable regions to safer areas while ensuring proper arrangements for accommodation, food, healthcare, and transportation.
“The administration, police, CAPFs, and armed forces are working in close coordination. We are vigilant, equipped, and fully prepared to respond to any evolving situation. The safety of every citizen is our top priority,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The LG also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his firm leadership and reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
