Lieutenant Governor Flags Off First Haj Pilgrimage Batch from Srinagar International Airport

Srinagar, May 04 (RNA):
Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today officially flagged off the first group of Haj pilgrims from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at Srinagar International Airport.

The Lieutenant Governor interacted warmly with the departing pilgrims, offering his heartfelt greetings and best wishes for a safe journey and a spiritually enriching experience. He also prayed for enduring peace, progress, and collective well-being across Jammu and Kashmir.

“I convey my sincere greetings to all pilgrims embarking on this sacred journey. Haj is a divine calling, a deeply personal and cherished aspiration. The central government is fully committed to providing every possible support to ensure a smooth and comfortable pilgrimage experience,” the Lieutenant Governor said during the flag-off ceremony.

According to official figures, a total of 3,622 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir are set to perform Haj this year. From May 4 to May 15, 2025, the Srinagar International Airport will operate 11 outbound flights, facilitating the travel of approximately 3,132 pilgrims from J&K and 242 pilgrims from the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, the pilgrims will be received by officials from the Consulate General of India, under the aegis of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The Lieutenant Governor acknowledged the valuable coordination and support extended by all relevant departments and stakeholders in organizing the pilgrimage successfully.

Several dignitaries and senior officials were present at the send-off ceremony, including Shri Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister; Shri Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary; Shri Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Shri Vidhi Kumar Birdi, IGP Kashmir; Shri Akshay Labroo, Deputy Commissioner Budgam; along with members of the J&K Haj Committee, and senior personnel from the Airport Authority, Civil Administration, and Police Department.
