LoC Tensions Rise as Pakistan Initiates Fresh Unprovoked Firing; Indian Army Retaliates
Srinagar, May 1 (RNA):
Fresh tension gripped the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir as Pakistani troops once again initiated unprovoked small-arms firing during the early hours of Wednesday. The Indian Army responded swiftly and effectively to the provocation.
Official sources revealed that the firing began around midnight and persisted for several hours, impacting forward areas in Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor sectors. Indian troops have been placed on high alert, and surveillance has been intensified across the affected regions.
This escalation comes in the wake of the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the loss of 26 livesand has further strained bilateral relations between India and Pakistan.
Following the Pahalgam attack, India took a series of strong diplomatic and strategic steps, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, expulsion of Pakistani diplomats, and closure of Indian airspace to Pakistani carriers. Pakistan has issued reciprocal measures, including similar airspace and diplomatic restrictions.
The situation at the LoC remains volatile, with both sides maintaining a heightened state of operational readiness. Meanwhile, international stakeholders such as the United Nations and the United States have urged both nations to exercise restraint, stressing the need for de-escalation and dialogue.
As the stand-off continues, the security apparatus across LoC-facing districts remains vigilant to prevent any further escalation.
