
Mega Job Fair in Baramulla Attracts Over 10,000 Youth; Boosts Employment and Awareness of Govt Schemes
Srinagar, April 17 (RNA):
The two-day Mega Job Fair, jointly organized by the District Employment & Counselling Centre (DECC), Baramulla and the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, concluded on April 17 with an overwhelming participation of over 10,000 youth. Held at Baramulla on April 16–17, the event aimed at empowering the youth through direct employment opportunities, self-employment awareness, and skill development.
The job fair witnessed a significantly higher turnout of women and more than 60% participation from rural areas, thanks to the outreach efforts by the Indian Army. The fair was attended by prominent dignitaries including Chinar Corps Commander, GOC Dagger Division, and senior Army officials. MLA Javid Beigh and DC Baramulla Minga Sherpa also marked their presence on Day 1.
The Chinar Corps Commander, in his address, reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to the empowerment of local youth and community development. He handed out offer letters to selected candidates, congratulating them on the start of their professional journey.
With the participation of over 28 reputed companies, including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, J&K Bank, Royal Enfield, Domino’s Pizza, The Khyber Gulmarg, SBI Life, PNB MetLife, and LIC, youth were offered job opportunities across sectors like IT, healthcare, hospitality, retail, marketing, banking, and manufacturing.
A DECC official noted, “Baramulla’s youth have immense potential. This job fair is a major stride toward creating a brighter, self-reliant future.”
The event also featured on-the-spot interviews, career counseling, and skill development workshops, alongside dedicated stalls for government self-employment schemes. Over 345 youth availed information and registered for initiatives like:

Vilayat, an aspiring entrepreneur and scheme beneficiary, shared, “We didn’t know these schemes existed. Today, I got myself registered. I thank the Army and District Administration for this eye-opening platform.”
Mr. Junaid, Assistant Manager at The Khyber Gulmarg, praised the fair, saying, “The youth here are enthusiastic and skilled. It was a pleasure interacting with them. Hospitality in J&K has immense scope now.”
The fair also offered live registrations for skill enhancement courses, preparing youth to be competitive in a growing job market. Experts and counselors guided aspirants to align their interests with relevant job opportunities.
Mr. Nizam Wani, District Employment Officer, DECC Baramulla, highlighted the power of collaboration, stating:
“We are deeply thankful to the Indian Army for its support. This fair is a testament to what can be achieved when stakeholders unite for the youth.”
The initiative ended on a high note, with hundreds of youth securing job offers, shortlisting opportunities, and enrolling for future-oriented training programs—signifying a major leap toward employment, awareness, and empowerment in North Kashmir.
