MHA Advises Media to Avoid Use of Air Raid Siren Sounds
New Delhi, May 10 (RNA):
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a strict advisory to all television and digital media platforms, instructing them to refrain from using Civil Defence Air Raid Siren sounds in their programs, except for community awareness initiatives.
The advisory comes amid heightened security sensitivity and concerns that such sirens may create unnecessary panic or confusion among the public when used for dramatic or entertainment purposes.
The MHA clarified that the use of air raid sirens should be restricted solely to official awareness campaigns or alerts. Any misuse or sensational portrayal of such sounds in non-official programming could mislead citizens or be misinterpreted in the current national context.
The ministry emphasized that strict action would be taken against any violations under applicable legal provisions.
