Reviews Damage, Urges Swift Relief Measures in Poonch District

POONCH, MAY 16: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today undertook a comprehensive tour of the Line of Control (LoC) villages in Mankote Sector of Poonch district to assess the situation following recent cross-border shelling.

The Minister visited the affected villages of Uchhad and Jhulas, where he interacted with residents who had suffered due to the shelling. He was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mendhar, Imran Kataria, along with other senior officials of the local administration.

During the visit, Minister Rana evaluated the damage caused to homes and infrastructure. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the affected families and reiterated the government’s commitment to standing with them in this time of hardship.

He directed the concerned authorities to ensure speedy disbursement of compensation to the impacted families, emphasizing that timely assistance was critical. The Minister further instructed the administration to prioritize the restoration of damaged infrastructure and initiate immediate relief efforts to address the humanitarian challenges being faced in the region.

Highlighting the government’s sensitivity to border residents’ plight, Minister Javed Rana assured full support and necessary intervention to help them rebuild and recover. “The welfare and safety of our people living along the border is our top priority,” he said.
