
MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah Launches Major Development Projects in Gulmarg Constituency

In a determined push towards inclusive growth and public welfare, Shri Farooq Ahmad Shah (IAS Retd.), Hon’ble MLA Gulmarg, launched a series of development initiatives across various sectors during an extensive tour of his constituency.
Preserving Heritage and Enhancing Education
At Utikoo, Tehsil Kwarhama, the MLA laid the foundation stone for the renovation and reconstruction of the shrine of Hazrat Syed Mohammad Moosa (RA). The project, valued at ₹55.47 lakhs with an allotment of ₹38.82 lakhs, is being executed by the R&B Division Tangmarg under the guidance of the Department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums. Shri Shah emphasized the cultural and spiritual importance of the shrine and its role in preserving local heritage.
In the same village, Shri Shah also laid the foundation stone for an Additional Classroom (ACR) at the PM SHRI Government Boys Middle School, Utikoo, aiming to improve infrastructure and learning space for students.
Boost to Sports and Tribal Education
Continuing his focus on youth development, the MLA visited Wussan Bangil to inspect the proposed sites for an Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) and an Indoor Sports Stadium. These upcoming institutions are expected to provide quality education and advanced training facilities for tribal and rural youth, creating new opportunities in academics and athletics.
Support for Dairy Sector and Rural Economy
Shri Shah also visited dairy farms in Mangloora and Ogmuna, where he interacted with farmers and staff. He stressed the need to modernize dairy infrastructure and provide technical training and support to boost production and income generation. He reiterated his vision of transforming Gulmarg into a model dairy hub, enhancing food security and livelihood options for local families.
Assurance to Religious and Educational Institutions
Concluding his tour, Shri Farooq Ahmad Shah visited the Darul Uloom Ganiwani, Block Chandil, and assessed damage to the Darasgah building. He assured full administrative support for its restoration, underlining the need to safeguard institutions that cater to both education and faith.
Speaking to the media, the MLA reaffirmed his commitment to holistic, inclusive development across Gulmarg, stating that “no community or sector will be left behind in the journey of progress.”
